Re: Victoria Bond – Our dear friend
We wanted to share with you the deep sense of sadness and loss of our dear friend and Festival Secretary, Victoria Bond, who tragically died earlier this week whilst on a trip to Chile.
As I write this, it still seems incomprehensible that this tragedy has happened to such a beautiful person and the creative heartbeat of the Festival. One of the phrases many of us have said over the last few days is her incredible zest for life. It is hard to understand why these things ever occur but the only comfort we can try to take is that she was living her life to the full on her latest adventure in Patagonia. It is just devastating news to know she will not be coming back to tell us all about it.
It is this same passion and desire which has helped revitalise the Festival over the last few years. I am very lucky to chair a wonderful, supportive, friendly committee of Stephen, Keith, Josh, Diana, Nichola and Matt. This has all hurt and shocked us, as it will to any of you lucky enough to have spent time with Victoria.
From a personal point of view, I owe her the greatest thanks for encouraging me and giving me the confidence to be the Chair of this wonderful Festival. We will never be able to replace her. Once we have tried to make sense of this, all we can do is make sure the Roseland Festival in 2026 is the best ever, as a thank you to someone who did so much for the event and touched everyone who was ever involved with it.
Our final thoughts go out to those of you who knew her personally, her friends in Portscatho, her own friends and family and especially her mother, Jenifer.
