The Committee would like to invite you to the Festival’s AGM to be held at the Millennium Rooms, St Mawes, TR2 5AG, on Wednesday 22 November 2023, from 7 pm. All are welcome
Despite a hugely successful 2023 festival, the future of the festival hangs in the balance. Many of our long-term committee members are standing down after many hundreds of hours of service to the community… so we are looking for fresh faces and a new committee to take the festival into 2024.
Last month, we had a successful “Relaunch Night” at the St Mawes Hotel and are grateful to those supporters of the festival who attended. We have an offer of a new Chair, a new Treasurer, and the potential for a job-share for the Secretary which would help spread the administrative load across the committee, together with several offers to be new committee members.
The Committee met at the end of October to review the situation and to plan this year’s AGM and is in the process of making decisions for the 2024 Festival. All Festival Friends and supporters are welcome to the AGM; refreshments will be available.
The committee meets once or twice a month in the pub over a glass of wine or dinner, to brainstorm, curate the programme and distribute tasks. For 2024 the plan is to scale back the workload, so the festival will be 9 days; two weekends and the five weekdays in between, and with fewer daily events.
We have a very healthy bank balance to support festival activities going forward. It’s a wonderful initiative to be a part of, meetings are super social and it’s a brilliant opportunity to meet new people, make friends and support local businesses; it’s very rewarding work!
